Aiden Dubberly is a Jacksonville, Florida-based jazz drummer, vibraphonist, arranger, composer, and bandleader. Music has always been a part of his life—his mother, a fan of ’70s and ’80s icons like Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder, and his father, a multi-genre drummer, who introduced him to everything from Nirvana to Joshua Redman.
Aiden began playing drums at 10 years old but didn’t get serious until his second year at LaVilla School of the Arts, where he discovered YouTube videos of jazz legends Buddy Rich and Gene Krupa. During middle school, he immersed himself in the early decades of jazz, developing a deep knowledge and passion for the genre. This passion led him to form the (short-lived) Douglas Anderson Dance Orchestra.
By age 15, Aiden transitioned from studying the greats of the past to creating his own musical voice—whether through solo projects, performing with his trio, or playing in Douglas Anderson School of the Arts’ nationally acclaimed ensembles.
Aiden is honored to be the recipient of the 2025 Amelia Island Jazz Festival Scholarship. Excited for his future and where college will take him, he shares:
“I feel like my creative outlet is expanding every single day, preparing me for the moment I can share it with the world.”
